Kambi Primary School Naro Moru Kenya Banner

SPECIAL THANKS:

Thank you to everyone in the Tennis and Life Camps community, and to Mr. Frederick Martin, who made a very special contribution of $7500. We surpassed our initial of $15,000. We have now shifted our thinking from how to raise money to how to start construction sooner than later. Currently we have only details to work out and plan to break ground in January of 2008 after the current rainy season. We've also dramatically increased our goal to build the entire school instead of just one classroom and thank you all for your continued support! 10/13/2007

Gustavus Adolphus College Tennis and Life Camp Partners with WI to
Benefit Kambi School

Tennis and Life Camp has been operating on the Gustavus Adolphus campus in St. Peter, Minnesota the past 31 years under the direction of Barb and Steve Wilkinson. One of their staff instructors, Emily Walz (sister to WI staffer Andy Walz) went on a WI trip to Kenya this past winter sharing her passion for tennis and learning at one WI's stops on their Africa tour, the Kambi Primary School. Their tourgroup visited the school and brought tennis supplies setting up a "clay court" and introducing a number of the students to tennis basics which is now a formal part of their physical education curriculum. The school is in desperate need of an additional classroom and some finishing work to some earlier building projects but has no means of raising the money necessary to complete this work. Emily made a display which promotes the Kambi School project initiated through WI and received permission to promote fundraising for Kambi at the Tennis and Life Camps this summer. In her first camp session , Emily received a commitment for a matching grant of up to $7500 which will hopefully stimulate further giving towards the goal of $15,000 necessary to complete the needed work. We are so grateful to all who are making this important mission a reality.
